#FALLON update. Our beautiful boy is coming ahead well in recovering from the haemorrhagic gastroenteritis that saw him get down to frightening proportions but with the care of his wonderful vet and now home with his foster mum he is eating and gaining weight and is back up to 13kg. Sadly as he has become more active it was discovered he had a problem with one of his rear legs which has not improved and xrays have revealed an old, serious fracture of his femoral head with the result being that his femur bone had slipped up beside the hip socket and muscles and tendon had rebuilt around it. This has caused this leg to be shorter than the others and he is in quite a bit of discomfort from it. The damage would have been caused by blunt trauma of some sort and we can conjecture as to the cause given his other injuries but it does nothing to fix him. Only surgery will improve his quality of life and so tomorrow he is undergoing a femoral head excision with possible plating of the femur to make it stay in place. He will need to have lots and lots of rest post operatively to give him the best chance at recovering and to allow the joint to heal. We are so grateful to everyone who has already given to help him so far but this surgery is obviously a big cost on top of the other expenses from his illness so if anyone can donate towards Fallons care then text FALLON to 0417666938.
