FAME We know those who make waves in the world. Those whose names attracts lots of attention in the music industry, soccer, religious and so on. Its good to be famous but the weight of it is stronger than its advantage. Many desire to be famous without minding the cost of it. Fame is a state of being widely honored, well-known and well-spoken of and this can be as a result of ones gift, stature, beauty and so on. King Solomon was highly acclaimed and desired because of his wisdom. He did not demand riches from God nor fame but wisdom and the wisdom got him riches and fame which eventually led to his destruction (1Kings 10). Women were ready to give themselves to him because of the admiration they have for him and he in turn loved them even the strange ones God commanded them not to marry. A mans gift will make room for him, and bring him before great men. (Proverbs 18:16). When you exercise your gift, not only will the world make room for you, but youll also be paid for it and this will make you famous. You can either use your gift to bring glory to God or the devil. Have you considered the famous people of the past, where are they today? Fame comes and go just like the morning cloud. Fame is rather fleeting, what matters is Jesus. Your peace of mind and your relationship with God is far more important, so this should be the precedent that you set in your life. Fame most times lead to pride and pride is a no go area with God. Watch it, lest God sees you from afar. Solomon got famous and rich that what he acquired turned his heart away from God. Check your life today, is fame not getting into your head, hereby taking your focus away from God? Oh, Im not famous now, but what happens in the future? I am not saying it is wrong or a sin to be famous, but how you handle it vis a vis your relationship with God is paramount. Dont forget that God must have all the glory no matter what you become in life. Dont neglect your personal relationship or walk with God as a result of being famous. God is more interested in your walk with Him than what you become. It is not about being famous, it is about imparting virtues to generations, using that fame to turn many into righteousness and de-populating the kingdom of hell. Moreover, earthly recognition is good but how about your placement in eternity? Let heaven recognize you. Remember, God can give you power, wisdom or talents and you might as well end up in hell. Be humble. Ask for the grace to manage fame wisely lest it ruin your life. Confession: For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain Prayer: Lord help me not to neglect you as a result of fame. Lead me in the path of righteousness. Give me the wisdom to humble myself despite my achievements now and in the future. Oluwatoyin Adebowale
