FAMILY MATTERS: THE MYSTERY OF FIRST LOVE... It all began about a month into their new marriage, Ifeoma started receiving some strange and incessantly annoying phone calls that led to long conversations. She was always buried in her phone so much chatting away and totally oblivious of her newly wed husband and the house chores. Fred was naturally curious, but kept quiet so as not to appear unnecessarily jealous moreso that the marriage was still in its infant stage and thus, such early domestic skirmishes should be taken with a pinch of salt. Well, after a while of unbearable endurance, Fred decided to ask who the strange caller was. Oh, its my ex. she said, nonchalantly. Did you not tell him you are now married? He asked her. She answered in the affirmative. Then as quietly as possible, Fred advised his wife against such illicit and unholy conversations and implored her politely to focus on their very young marriage. But Ifeoma would have none of it as she didnt bulge, day and night, she would pick the calls, sometimes into late in the dead of the shrill night...Then one Sunday afternoon, they were both talking in their living room when the anonymous home-breaker called again. Fred knew it was him from the way she spoke to him excitedly like a teenager in love. He became really miffed and altogether angry and snatched the phone from her and turned it off. He was particularly infuriated that his wife could not even respect his presence at least. A moment after he had calmed down, he decided to take the bull by its horn and talk to the strange man who seems totally committed to breaking his home, so he turned on her phone and called him. He introduced himself peacefully and admonished him to please give his innocent wife some space so they can at least focus on nurturing their young marriage. To Freds utmost dismay, he was shocked half to death when he began laughing at him derisively on the phone. He said: Mr. Johnbull, so na you be the maga wey Ifeoma dey hin house. That babe is mine! I disvirgined her. She is my first love. I trained, tamed, groomed and turned her into a woman. I have her emotional manual. No guy can love her the way I do. I still gave it to her the way she likes it last night and she moaned my name...! Fred couldnt take it any longer and cut the call. This is just less than a month into their early marriage, Fred could not begin to imagine reporting her to anyone. Maybe it was his ego, he does not know. But he stomached everything. He called his wife and asked her If what her touted Ex said was true but she neither affirmed nor denied it! She kept a straight guilty but an expressionless face...That was the day something died inside of him... To be continued!
