FANTASTIC article @Electriclit, I am SO proud of @TaylorSwift13 for standing firmly in her power on this subject. Musicians have basically been giving their music away since Napster. Spotify only pays artists $.0006 for every stream! THATS LESS THAN A PENNY. The people who are greedy are not the artists who demand to be properly compensated for the content they make and release, (it is our livelihood, after all!), but the people who threaten to boycott them. If you dont understand what a gift music is, if you dont understand the hard work that goes into making a record, if you dont understand how music improves movies, television, the cafe where you have your morning coffee, and so many aspects of life, just know your opinion about anything relating to music is irrelevant. ARTISTS turn our pain into beauty. ARTISTS share their souls with us. ARTISTS open the channels that allows to connect with each other. Calling an artist mean and greedy for wanting to get paid for her art? What an entitled, selfish, and lazy generation we are. I may not make as much money as Taylor Swift, I may not have as many fans, but she is doing exactly what I wish the rest of us had the guts to do. She is saying no. She is exercising her hard earned power, something many people will never understand, much less experience. YOU GO GIRL.
