FANTASY LEAGUE From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things, and the work of their hands brings reward (Prov. 12:14). Our scripture (Proverbs 12:1-16). Wicked or upright which one would you choose? Of course, we would choose upright. These sixteen verses are a comparison; each one demonstrates the benefits of choosing uprightness rather than wickedness. In each case, there is a correlation between the upright path and a favorable outcome. In other words being good pays off. Whether it`s being good toward our spouse, God, or an animal; through our speech our plans, our humility; righteousness is rewarded. Conversely, negative consequences doggedly pursue the wicked: they`re cruel and they`re blind to the truth. So why doesn`t everyone choose to be upright instead of wicked? Verse 11 gives us a clue when it speaks of those who chase fantasies. Ever since the craftiest of all creatures tricked Eve, a lie has dangled before us. Most people are not tempted by a choice between wicked and upright. Rather the temptation is to choose the fantasy; to believe that the fruit will make us like God himself. People don`t always choose to be wicked--they choose the fantasy, the false, the mirage. Then they live with the consequences the fantasy, by nature, is wicked. Dear Jesus may we always choose the upright. One of the fantasies the evil one dangles before us is, to look at the ones who have chosen the wicked, and say look at them, see how much better off they are than you! May we never believe the lie, but always search for the truth. (Paraphrased, David Roller, RE--FLECTING GOD 11/1/14). So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desire of the flesh. Help me to walk aright--More by faith, less by sight. Lead me with heav`nly light; Teach me Thy way! Teach Me Thy Way. O Lord by B. Mansell Ramsey
