Mediums are people who claim they can communicate with the spirits of the dead, a practice established by the Fox Sisters in New York in the 19th century. Crucially, Sally Morgan believes in an afterlife in which spirits of the dead can interact with her. 6. I believe in spirits and mediums. Can I still make the pledge? Yes. I am already dead. Can I still make the pledge? The PSHP is an internet page and petition. Can I share this information on this forum? Yes. The forum can be used to debate the authenticity of stage mediums and the psychic industry. The views expressed in the forum do not necessarily represent the views of its editors. 10. Are there other ways I can oppose violence, prejudice and homophobia? Yes. I have seen a ghost. What should i do? It is important not to panic! There are few cases in which ghosts have been thought to harm anyone. We recommend you ask if you can take a picture, and ask the spirit which is the one true religion. 12. Do ghosts exist? The PSHP is primarily concerned with opposing violence and homophobia within the psychic industry, and promote peaceful, rational free speech. 13. Could a ghost harm Psychic Sally? We strongly oppose violence conducted on others by either a living person or a ghost. 14. Are there other ways of opposing mediums and psychic performers? Those who believe stage psychics are dishonest, exploitative and an intrusion on personal grief may wish to expose fraudulent methods used to achieve their effects. Similarly, those who believe in psychic ability may wish to expose fraudulent psychics who give the real ones a bad name. Methods purportedly used by fraudulent psychics include cold reading, research conducted on ticket-holders prior to the show using public records, social media and correspondence with the medium. Many performers, including Sally Morgan, invite audiences to supply photographs and information about loved ones on cards prior to the show. To determine genuine psychics from the fraudulent, some have in the past submitted false information via social media and prayer cards, and used radio to intercept messages between the performer and backstage crew. However, the PSHP do not necessarily condone the use of these techniques. Those who feel strongly about the use of mediums on TV and their connection with violent threats, may choose to let their views known to the TV channels concerned.
