FARE recently convened a summit on emergency management of anaphylaxis. Several representatives from the Seattle area were present including Dr. Julie Brown, emergency room physician at Seattle Chilrens Hospital, Jonathan Nolan of Seattle and King County Public Health/Emergency Medical Services and King County Medic One, and Kelly Morgan, president of Washington FEAST. When a 911 call for anaphylaxis is placed it is important that every person engaged in the process of responding understands how anaphylaxis can present, that epinephrine, and possible multiple doses of epinephrine is THE life-saving drug of choice and that transport to the ER and extended observation is critical to managing potential biphasic and potentially even more life-threatening reactions. foodallergy.org/press-room/2014/091814
