FARMER FROM THAILAND TALKING ON T.E.D. Very relevant points, But why make a case appealing to laziness and stubbornness? I think that this is still part of the brains versus brawn dichotomy. Or rather a reaction against it (a product of it?). Fact is, if land owners only needed to work 2 hours a day to feed their immediate family members, that means they were not contributing to any larger causes. Like paying percentage of yield to larger, more organized groups who could think, plan and act further into the future. Who would have said that such landholdings were being under utilized to justify the demands placed on them. This was the logic at work I think, and how terrain was settled in the past, by merging and combing interests and wealth, to form central powers. Either by force, or by persuasion. Otherwise there would only be chains of self-interested small holders, that would run into problems when disaster strikes. Another older word for this is of course called paying tribute, involving giving up amounts of personal independence and wealth to be part of something larger. Thats where the brain versus brawn dichotomy comes in doesnt it? How to persuade other people to give up more of themselves, to be part of something larger than themselves? Or how to be larger than them to begin with? So that such demands can be made on the first place. https://youtube/watch?v=21j_OCNLuYg
