FAST2014: DAY 11 WE MUST TRUST GOD! Well it’s day 11, you’re half way there, how is everyone doing?? Let me guess… hungry?! Hold strong my friends. The reward of the Lord is greater than any meal we could ever eat! What I have learned in fasting is that the reward isn’t always in what He can do for me, but sometimes it’s in what He shows me about me. What areas need to be more like Him. The reward is Christ likeness. I have a simple word for you today that Lord has been showing me in my fast and I would like to share it with you. We hear it all the time, “Life is a journey”, and everyone’s journey is different. What is your destination? Ultimately our main desired destination is Heaven, but more specifically today what destinations are you trying to obtain. What is it that you are praying for? Financial stability? A strong Godly marriage? A reconciled marriage? Forgiveness towards someone who has hurt you? Freedom from a sin that has been a thorn in your flesh for years? Anger? Fear? Friends? Loved ones? Relationships? The Lord has given me a simple word of insight concerning your journey and the key to successfully reaching your destination. The Bible says in Psalms 119:104-105, “104, I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path 105, Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” The first thing we must do is realize that our own wisdom and intelligence will NEVER be able to fully comprehend or understand God and why He does certain things in our life and why He takes us down certain paths. That is why the author in Psalms says “YOUR WORD” is a lamp. We must first humble ourselves and surrender our way of doing things. We have to come to a place where we realize that God is not interested in doing things our way because He knows we CAN’T see the whole picture. There is an old saying that says ,“You can’t see the forest, despite the trees. “ Simply put we will tend to get so focused on where we are right now in our frustrations, hurt, pain and disappointments that we cant see how things will ever change. We want to do better, we want to think we have the answers and that “it will all work out in time”. But I’m here to say that it wont as long as we are doing it our way. We are the ones with the view of the trees and God is the one with the view of the WHOLE forest. He knows every little path, hill & valley. The Bible says in Prov 14:12 “12 There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. We think that we have it all figured out but we don’t. So what’s it gonna take…the second key….TRUST. We have to come to a place of understanding that God is not always going to show us the whole picture, so we must return to the fundamentals of our faith. Proverbs 3:5-6 “TRUST in the Lord with ALL your heart and LEAN NOT to your own understanding, BUT in ALL your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” He said that He will be a “Lamp unto your feet”. This means He is simply going to light up enough of the path for you to see your next step. HE SEES THE WHOLE FOREST. He wants us to trust Him. Remember what He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, “For HE KNOWS the plans he has for us…Plans not to harm us…” He will never lead us down a path of destruction, but rather a path that leads to healing, restoration, freedom, financial blessing… LIFE! What ever your journey is that you are fasting for it’s gonna take trust. Some prayers may not be answered in this 21 days or next month or even the next 6 months, but by showing the Lord that in this year 2014 we are starting out by acknowledging Him in all our ways He will lead us to our breakthroughs. We must trust!!! Look at what our opening scripture says in the message version…very fitting for our fast: Psalms 119:104-105 “104 Your words are so choice, so tasty; I prefer them to the best home cooking. With your instruction, I understand life; thats why I hate false propaganda. 105 By your words I can see where Im going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. I don’t know about you…even though I could go for some SERIOUS home cooking right now, the word of the Lord is always more satisfying!!! His very Word will throw a beam of light on your path. My prayer for all of us is that we would return back to the place of really trusting God to lead and guide us in every area of our lives. He is a God who loves taking walks with His sons and daughters. Thank you for the opportunity to share with you! #FAST2014
