FATAL CRASH INVOLVING 2 CARS EARLY JULY 4TH, 2013. The Seventh Squad is investigating a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on July 4, 2013 at 6:39 A.M. in Bellmore. According to detectives, a 66 year old male, driving a 2001 Toyota Camry westbound on Merrick Road was in a collision with a 23 year old female driving eastbound on Merrick Road near Soma Avenue. The 2001 Camry became engulfed with flames and the driver was pulled from the vehicle by witnesses. The 66 year old victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced at 7:13 A.M. by hospital staff. The 23 year old female driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
