FATHERS’ DAY For us fathers I mean bona fide fathers The season is upon us again Season to define and celebrate us By none other than our very children! Fathers’ Day so close Time to take stock How much we have run In this race of fatherhood. Fatherhood It is a lifetime assignment We may all be men We may all the husbands Yet are we not all fathers For some fathers renege On their very fatherly responsibilities. As fathers We know ourselves We recognize ourselves Not fathers who fail their duties on their kids Not fathers who fail to bring up their kids Not fathers who seek excuses over their kids. Fathers’ Day is a reminder That fathers who look after their children Fathers who hunger because of their children Fathers who invest because of their children Time comes for celebration Time comes for remembrance. Enyinda Nath Okey GREAT TO BE A FATHER I won’t know about other fathers I don’t know about other fathers I don’t wish to care what they do I don’t wish to think what they do I am a father and I am loving it. I went hungry for my kids I went near naked for my kids I sacrificed much for my kids I look back in great humility I feel great to be a father! My own father had taught me Humility and a sense of hardwork He taught me to be self confident He taught me how to love family Papa taught me dignity of labour Papa taught me the pride of peace. I am a father to replicate his teachings I am a father to exceed his own marks I am a father to add value to fatherhood So great that God saw me all through I look back in awe of what I went through As I sit by and sip my chilled drinks I declare to whosoever that listens: It is great to be a father To me and from me: HAPPY FATHERS’ DAY! © Engr.
