FB CONFESSIONALS: It is time to come clean about a deep, dark - TopicsExpress

FB CONFESSIONALS: It is time to come clean about a deep, dark secret... I have a child. I do not know who the father is, but my son is BLACK. I am also not proud that as a single, WHITE woman, I put my career before him this week. When he needed my love and attention, I ignored him. When he started to get sick, I only cleaned up the mess and locked him in a cage. I am GUILTY for not showing my INNOCENT child the love he deserved this week. Thankfully - because it is the time of year we celebrate being THANKFUL - I came to my senses and nursed him back to health before he got any worse. THANKFULLY, my child does not have opposable thumbs and his only mischievous behavior was digging in the trash for Friendsgiving scraps. THANKFULLY, the only thing he was guilty of was being hungry and sneaky. Apparently I am not doing my job as a parent because I am raising my son to behave like an animal. I am GUILTY as charged. So can we stop with all the GUILTY, INNOCENT, BLACK, WHITE drama, people? Can we stop behaving like animals? Can we at least put the white flag up on all this sordid chaos in time to be THANKFUL? Love, humility, compassion, and integrity know no color. They are, however, key ingredients to a universal recipe that fulfills us as human beings. Sometimes, they are in the form of lessons...lessons we learn from our little black and white fur babies. Sometimes thats what it takes for us to learn how to be better humans. So go home. Be with your family, hug your friends and love your neighbors. Its time to shut this off - at least momentarily - gather around the table, hold hands, and be THANKFUL. -C
