FB family and friends: 45 years ago today (July 9, 1969) was my first day in Vietnam (I was 19 years old)! 1 year 7 months and 22 days later I got back home! We were young, patriotic, fought for country, scared of not seeing tomorrow or family back home! Got great food packages from Mom and Dad...tortillas and sweet bread wrapped in CRISCO shortening cans sealed with duct tape...fresh as the day they made them... tons of letters and learned life lessons about growing up fast! Got out of the Army at 20 but felt like 30. Left some brothers and sisters back there! Big lesson...responsibility and loyalty to my country ... America! Thanks for reading!
