FB family & friends I wanted to take this opportunity and thank each of you personally for the many acts of kindness shown toward the SMITH FAMILY during the transition on last week of our sister, Annette Olgesby and this week our brother, Thomas Lamar Smitty Smith. My brother/cousin Rev. Gary W. Smith preached like a mad man, I Got a New Home, which happened to be the title of the song that my brother Smitty wrote for the Goods Choir @ Fairview (our home church) on our First Anniversary when we were just little kids. The Celebration of Life for my brother was absolutely wonderful. We cried, laughed and and his mother-in-law, Rosetta Moore, his childhood friend Deacon Todd Jay Dorsey, my cousin Apostle Preston Smith, my cousin Donald Ford, family friend Barrington Savage and his brother/cousin Ernest Baxter made superior remarks concerning the many memories they had of my brother. The tributes that were made were phenominal and the presentation from the Golden Bulls Softball Team was just outstanding; they presented my brothers only son, Antwan Dawkins his letter jersey that he was honored with during the induction to their Hall of Fame. My godsister Tracy Thurman sang to the glory of God, His Eye Is on the Sparrow and my niece Jasmine Smith sang I Can Only Imagine. To my brothers longtime childhood friend whom he played football, baseball and basketball, Bishop Zavier Terrill Sr. for being there as a support to our family. Rev. Charles Turner (Coach Turner) who shared the roster today with the ecclesia. Rev. Marion C. Jones, my brothers Pastor for 11 years @ Fairview A. M. E. Zion Church and Rev. Franklin R. Kelly and Lady Lola Kelly for their love and support. The ecclesia (especially my brother/cousin Rev. Frankie Smith and Evangelist Wilma Hopper Smith ) that completed the pulpit roster; I personally thank you. The many friends from the Robertsdale Community that we grew up with represented in the masses. Thanks to Palmer Grove Baptist Church Administrative (Ministerial) Staff, Ushers, Media Ministry, JL Smith Mass Choir and the Culinary Staff for a wonderful epicurean delight. Thanks to Bishop James E. Wiley, Jr. for always being there for the Smith family and rendering his superior musical talents. To my Pastor, Pastor Caroline Allen-Jones and church family Greater Hope Ministries for their endearing love and support (all the text messages, prayers and phone calls). And last, but certainly not least to my aunt, Smittys aunt/mother, Aunt Earlene Smith-Baxter who raised and nurtured Smitty and my sister-in-law Mrs. Carolyn Moore Smith who displayed great strength and courage in the transition of her husband. Again, thank you, thank you and thank you. The blessings of the Lord maketh you rich and in Him addeth no sorrow is my supplication. Remember that this is the Lords doing and it is marvelous in His sight. #smittysgotANEWHOME!
