FB is a major form of communication-at least to start, between directors and actors. But Ive heard stories from directors about actors who never respond. I understand that one may be contacted by someone theyve never heard of before. In the event that an unfamiliar person has contacted anyone saying that theyd like to work with them, wants them to audition, asking about a demo reel or agency information, IMDB is a great tool to find out the legitimacy of all people at various levels of this industry. YouTube and Vimeo are also good for seeking out quality of work. Not that yall dont know that ;) If doubt persists, its still a good idea to reply to the message. If anyone is worried about saving face, a good reply is Thanks for thinking of me, but I cant right now. Please keep me in mind for the future. Best of luck with your project or a variation of such. The last thing anyone wants is for conversation between 3rd parties to go So and so never responds. No one wants to miss out on opportunities. And that same goes with emails and phones. Just a professional courtesy.
