FBC News The Ministry of Education is concerned at the pass rate for Year 12 Certificate Examination. The pass rate for the 2014 Certificate Exam is 66.4 per cent. In 2013, the pass rate was 75 per cent. Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says they have identified schools that scored below 50 per cent pass rate and will be working with them this year to better performance. “We will put a lot of resources to these schools where factors outside the students are affecting their performance. Factors such as school resources, appropriate qualified teachers, adequate number of teachers. All these factors will be addressed this year to ensure external factors do not affect student performance.” 25 schools have been identified as having below 50 per cent pass rate. The highest mark recorded for the Year 12 Certificate Exam is 385 out of 400. 12,344 students sat for the exam at 166 centers around the country. - See more at: fbc.fj/fiji/25963/ministry-not-happy-with-year-12-pass-rate#sthash.2WkfVpME.dpuf
