FC Barcelona midfielder, Andres Iniesta, has beaten Cristiano Ronaldo to the Golden Foot award. Iniesta became the first Barcelona and Spain player to win the award, which is reserved for players aged 28 or older. The Saniard fought off competition from other household names such as Wayne Rooney, Andrea Pirlo and Thierry Henry to win the award. Iniesta attended the gala in Monaco where he had his footprints moulded on stage during the ceremony. The Golden Foot award, which has been running for more than a decade, can only be won once and is determined in an online poll after a panel of journalists selects a 10-man shortlist based on personality and achievements. The 30-year-old tweeted from the ceremony: Thank you very much everyone for this award… Golden Foot 2014!” The other short-listed candidates were: Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Manuel Neuer, Andrea Pirloa, Thiago Silva, Franck Ribery, Yaya Toure, Thierry Henry and the Brazilian lady Marta. Previous winners of the Golden Foot are: Roberto Baggio, Pavel Nedved, Andriy Shevchenko, Ronaldo, Alessandro Del Piero, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho, Francesco Totti, Ryan Giggs, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Didier Drogba. Do you think Andres Iniesta deserves to win the award?
