FC Taraba, Gombe resume league action Sunday. The second round of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will resume on Sunday with two matches despite the reluctance of the clubs, according to the League Management Company. FC Taraba will host Gombe United, while Kaduna United will be away to Warri Wolves. Other matches are fixed for Wednesday involving clubs who are involved in the country’s cup competition, the Federation Cup. NPFL teams in the Federation Cup are Enyimba International, Nembe City, Giwa FC, Bayelsa United and El- Kanemi Warriors. Others are Sharks, Dolphins, Crown FC, Nasarawa United and Lobi Stars. The club managers had risen from an emergency meeting in Abuja this week and sought an extension in resumption date of the competition, but the LMC announced on its website the league resume as scheduled with the teams involve in Federation Cup exempted from the Sunday games. LMC Chief Operating Officer Salihu Abubakar announced the slight adjustment in fixtures which he attributed to the changes in the already listed Federation Cup Match Days. Matches in Jalingo between FC Taraba and Gombe United and that in Warri between Warri Wolves and Kaduna United will hold as scheduled on Sunday while on Wednesday, July 23, the other fixtures will be played but excluding those clubs that qualify for the Federations Cup quarter finals. He also disclosed that Clubs that qualified for the quarter finals of the Federation Cup will play their week 20 games on Wednesday, August 13.
