FEAR AND EXCITEMENT: AN ARTIST PREPARES: As much as you - TopicsExpress

FEAR AND EXCITEMENT: AN ARTIST PREPARES: As much as you should not let fear grip you and make you mess your audition, you also should not get so excited that you run ahead of yourself. An audition is about you displaying how much skill, talent, passion and determination you have. All of these need to come together in a seamless display of just how much you have prepared, and how much you understand what is needed and what you are doing. An audition is never about what you think, or how much you want to show them. It is never about you wanting to impress the director, or you wanting to impress the girls or the boys or your competitors.. Once you step into the auditioning room you need to be completely in character, which means that you zone out everything else that does not exist in the world of the character. Being overly excited will derail you as much as being nervous will! You will end up looking and sounding ridiculous because you are not in character... Acting is about interpreting text, singing is about communicating through song, whatever message you want to communicate. Both are about how much you know, how much you have prepared and how much skill you have... Never go into an audition room without having rehearsed and rehearsed until you are confident that you thoroughly understand the character and their journey!
