FEAR NOT! The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I - TopicsExpress

FEAR NOT! The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ---Psalm 27:1 His big brother was very strong and nobody messed with him. As long as the younger brother was with him, he felt safe. But when this younger brother was out and about by himself, he did not feel so secure. He knew he was vulnerable if he came into contact with those who disliked his brother. Yet, just knowing that his brother would protect him was a great comfort and those who might seek to harm him had better take notice who they were messing with. As followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, we do not need to fear anyone. Listen, the Lord is our Light… the Lord is our salvation! According to the verse above, because He is our Light and salvation, we do not need to fear man! Those who seek to harm us better take notice who our Big Brother is! We are told that He will never leave us nor forsake us and that He will be with us until the end of this age (Hebrews 13:5; Matthew 28:20). That passage goes on to say that the Lord is our helper and we will not fear because what can man really do to us? (Hebrews 13:6). They can only kill us, but when they do that they are sending us to heaven! Proverbs 29:25 tells us that to fear man is to be snared. Just like any animal that is caught in a snare, so fear of man will entrap us and hold us back from being and doing all that we could be and do. Again, In Luke 12:4-7 Jesus call us friends and tells us not to fear those who can kill us and then can do no more to us! It is ironic that those who kill Christians and think that is the end of them are actually giving them the gift of new life in glory! Is fear of some person holding you back? I know that fear holds many Christians back from sharing the gospel with others. This is a ploy of Satan to keep us from sharing the great news of our Great King Jesus and all that He has done so people can be freed from the kingdom of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of light, the kingdom of God’s dear Son. So, who are you fearing? You need not! Be bold in the authority of King Jesus, trusting in the Holy Spirit’s power and not your own and see His Hand work! Dear Father, help us not to fear man. Instead, help us to boldly be the followers of King Jesus as You desire, being and doing what Your will is and not allowing fear to hold us back. Yes, may we trust in the Holy Spirit’s power to flow through us as we seek to be obedient to You. May it be so!
