FEARFUL THAT ALL FRUIT IS TOO ACIDIC TO EAT? SEE WHAT ACIDIC FOODS HAVE AN ALKALIZING EFFECT ON THE BODY! Fresh fruit is packed with vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals (plant compounds/chemicals that have medicinal properties), water, fiber, and antioxidants. It is a great healthy choice when you find yourself craving something sweet. When your body craves something sweet it is usually asking you for energy, and fruit is a quick healthy fuel source. Although fruit is considered a simple carbohydrate and quickly absorbed, it is slowed down by its fiber for a more sustained release of sugar as opposed to processed sweets with empty calories and no nutritional benefit. Unfortunately, it is true that all fruit is considered acidic but did you know there are several types of acidic fruits that actually have an alkalizing effect on the body when eaten? I know this may seem a bit confusing but there is a difference between food that tests acidic on its own and food that has an acidic effect on the body. This difference comes when food is eaten, combined with digestive enzymes and juices, and metabolized resulting in an alkalizing effect on the body. The following fruits do just that and contain 3 of the important alkalizing minerals calcium, magnesium, and potassium: Lemons, Limes, Grapefruit Lemons – protein, fiber, vitamin A, C, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium Limes - fiber, vitamin A, C, antioxidants, calcium, phosphorous, potassium Grapefruit - protein, fiber, vitamin A, C, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium Tomato – protein, fiber, vitamin A, C, K, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium Avocado - protein, fiber, vitamin A, C, K, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium Tomato and Avocado The key to a pH balanced healthy diet is not eliminating all acidic foods but rather rebalancing your body with a combination of alkaline and acidic foods. You don’t have to eliminate all acidic foods from your diet. You just have to be more mindful of the healthier choices that are considered acidic. Much Gratitude, Victoria Ann
