FEAST OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST -- Do you think of yourself as a Eucharistic person? Each day at every moment the Eucharist (the Mass) is celebrated at every moment throughout the world and you and I are caught up in that ongoing celebration. Pope Francis in speaking of the Eucharist has this to say, “The Eucharist, although it is the fullness of sacramental life, is not a prize for the perfect but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.” The Joy of the Gospel Chapter 1, V, 47. In the footnote our Holy Father cites many of the Church’s great teachers. How could Jesus say, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life within you” (John 6:53) if it was almost impossible to receive Him? For too long we forgot the healing power of the Holy Eucharist and many good people went hungry. How do you feel about this? I love the Mass, the gift of the Holy Eucharist. My life would be so poor without this daily gift. If I had to wait until I was worthy, I might never have received the Sacred gift.
