FEATURE OF THE WEEK! We have another instalment of our feature of the week, we hope you find it interesting and useful to hear some of the varied work our Fast Streamers undertake within their respective roles. Shadows and Workshops By Sarah I shadowed a DCLG colleague providing policy support to Nick Boles MP (the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Planning) as he spoke at a Westminster Hall debate on Planning and National Parks nickbolesmp/news/planning-national-parks . It was really interesting to witness the fast and dynamic pace of parliamentary debates, to gauge what kind of planning policy related issues are on the minds of MPs with National Park constituencies - and to discover the fast paced delivery and problem solving skills I will need when supporting future Ministeral debates alone! I also attended a really useful Public Bill Workshop on Parliamentary Questions (PQs) provided by the Parliamentary Outreach Service (parliament.uk/outreach). The workshop was bite sized to slot into lunchtime, but managed to cover the House of Commons and Lords procedures for PQs and how to find PQs online. Very useful knowledge to have when its our Departments turn to answer oral and topical questions!
