FEATURED POSITION OF THE DAY: PROGRAMMER/ANALYST II (.NET) Essential Functions Application Development o Perform design and documentation for new applications, application enhancements, and bug fixes o Evaluate vendor software o Code, test, debug, document, and implement software applications Project Management for Technological and Business solutions o Make recommendations for hardware/software requirements o Manage software vendors and external service providers o Assist in monitoring project schedules and taking corrective action to stay on schedule o Cultivate and foster customer service relationship Provide Support o Create document, schedule, and support operational activities including database backups and recoveries o Perform support for databases including maintenance, and assurance of database integrity o Provide off hours support Leadership o Ensure adherence to departmental standards o Act as a source of direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff o Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications • Undergraduate degree, current enrollment in IT degree program or equivalent experience • Demonstrated aptitude to quickly and effectively adapt to technologies outside of current experience • Experience with use of business applications in client/server or web-based environments • Experience developing within .NET Framework and Visual Studio 2008/2010 using one or more of the following: C#, ASP.Net, VB.NET • Experience programming in HTML, XML, JavaScript, etc., which requires integration with databases such as SQL server, MySQL • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written • Ability to work with only moderate supervision • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new circumstances • Ability to work extra hours and recognize the need to do so • Ability to adjust scheduled time • Ability to adjust to change and demands on time Preferred Qualifications • Undergraduate degree • Prior experience in a higher education technology environment • Experience developing in PowerBuilder • Experience with Microsoft Reporting Services • Experience with AJAX • Experience or training using web content management systems such as SharePoint publishing sites, Word Press, Drupal, Moodle, etc. • Experience or training with development for mobile-friendly devices
