FEMALE REFLEXOLOGIST HELD OVER SUSPECTED HUMAN TRAFFICKING KUCHING: A female reflexologist has been detained to assist the investigation of a case involving 10 foreign women who were found locked inside a room on the third floor of a building here. It is believed that the women, comprising seven China nationals and three Thais, were held by the 35-year-old suspect without their consent. According to a police spokesperson, the captives – aged between 20 and 40 – had just arrived at the city. “We believe that they could have been brought here to be exploited as forced labour. The case is being investigated under Section 44 of Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.” Following a tip-off, police conducted a raid on a massage parlour of the same premises at Jalan Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim in the wee hours of yesterday, which led them to finding the foreign captives. In a separate case yesterday, seven men were arrested during a raid on a shop unit at Jalan Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong here, believed to be a den for illegal ‘holo’ gambling. The suspects, aged between 33 and 56, were rounded up during the 3.30pm operation, during which police also confiscated holo paraphernalia and some cash. The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Common Gambling Act 1953. Source:Borneo Post
