FESTAL CELEBRATION OF THE MARIAN FEAST OF THE ANNUNCIATION TO THE VIRGIN MARY 24 - 25 March 2014 The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary in Toronto celebrates its Namesday on March 25th, the day all Christians rejoice in the “beginning of our salvation”. Together with all Hellenes, we also commemorate the anniversary of the re-birth of the Modern Greek Nation in 1821 with the National Holiday of Greek Independence Day. PROGRAM OF SERVICES Monday March 24th Eve of the Feast of the Annunciation 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Festal Great Vespers of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary with the Procession of the Holy Icon, Litya, Artoklasia, and Sermon. His Grace Bishop Christoforos of Andida will preside at this celebration, assisted by the Reverend Orthodox Clergy of Toronto and Vicinity. The responses will be sung by the Byzantine Choir of our Holy Metropolis. 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Reception hosted by Panagia Philoptochos 9:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Holy Paraklesis to the Theotokos Tuesday March 25th FEAST OF THE ANNUNCIATION TO THE VIRGIN MARY and GREEK INDEPENDENCE DAY 8.30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Orthros and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, celebrated by His Grace Bishop Christoforos of Andida, assisted by the Reverend Orthodox Clergy of Toronto & Vicinity 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Festal Doxology for Greek Independence Day Greetings will be extended by the Honourable Consul – General of Greece in Toronto, Mr. Demetrios Azemopoulos 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Reception hosted by Panagia Philoptochos
