FESTIVAL REVIEW: the Dressers is as camp as Christmas. It is a delicious indulgence of what anyone who has ever worked on or back stage would like to say about colleagues. As a musical comedy it is a real treat. Colin and Larry are supported by a cast of ushers and administrators a stage door keeper and a fan. It is clever, neat caricature that is the bedrock of this joyous thin plot. Costumes are what you would expect from a professional dresser and the swift changes into a new role work admirably under Mark Pollards clean direction. Lyrically any weakness is compensated by full melody and lots of melodrama. It had everything it needs, paper thin plot, great gags, torch songs, camp, pathos, good acoustic vocals and a bucket of laughs. David Malcolm and Michael Cotton bring versatility to a fine level in a bright new musical comedy that thoroughly entertains from start to finish. AD
