FFA Members Attend Camp Logan High School Written by: Andrew DeLong Fifteen members of the Chief Logan FFA chapter attended Ohio FFA camp, July 7-11, 2014. Located in Carroll County, on the banks of Leesville Lake, Camp Muskingum has been offering unique outdoor experiences since 1942. The lake, hillside and forests offer prime opportunities for aquatic and nature studies. Members attending were; Clay Swyers, Jacob Gwinn, Rawn Riggs, Benjamin Sheets, Nick Wyrick, Keegan Rose, Austin Huffines, Garrett Horton, Makala Chamberlain, Hannah Schrader, Emily Starlin (State Sentinel), Grace Libben, Reagan McCloud, Jill Olejnjczak, and Kaylee Wolfe, along with advisor, Andrew DeLong. Members participated in a variety of activities throughout the week including; softball, baseball, volleyball, paintball, high ropes, boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, corn hole, ping pong and horse shoes, as well as rifle, archery and shotgun ranges. The Ohio FFA officer team conducted various leadership activities for students to participate in. On Wednesday night, all in attendance participated in a hunger banquet. This activity made students more aware of the hunger situation here in the United States. A talent show and skit performance, which was held on Thursday evening, was followed by a Children’s Hospital benefit auction. The auction brought in over ten thousand dollars from the chapters in attendance. Over 290 members from across Ohio attended the fifth session of summer camp. This was a great experience for all in attendance.
