FG BOWS TO PRESSURE FROM @BUKOLASARAKI, CUTS FUEL PRICE Sequel - TopicsExpress

FG BOWS TO PRESSURE FROM @BUKOLASARAKI, CUTS FUEL PRICE Sequel to the fall in Crude oil price at the international market, Nigerians across all boards have advocated for a reduction of fuel price drawing examples from United States, Ghana and other nations who have reduced the price of fuel drastically for the benefit of the populace. Leading the advocacy, Senator Bukola Saraki, the chairman of Senate Committee on Ecology while speaking with newsmen in Offa challenged the Federal Government for the non reduction of fuel price in spite of the reduction at the international market. Saraki said it was impossible for fuel price to remain at N97 per liter when its original landing price is around N70 per liter, and subsidy still being paid to marketers. Further speaking on his social media pages Facebook and Twitter, Saraki emphasized the urgent need to reduce fuel pump price across the nation as replicated in other nations. In what can be described as a hasty decision based on advocacy pressure mounted by Saraki and other concerned Nigerians, few hours after the challenge, the Minister of Petroleum hurriedly announced a 10 Naira reduction even though It should be noted that landing cost of petrol is about N75 naira from the N127 Naira it was before the crash of crude oil price. While thousands of Nigerians are commending Senator Bukola Saraki for exposing the need to reduce oil price, Sen. Saraki through advocacy has called for more reduction in the price. Other notable Nigerians that have reacted to the reduction in Oil Price is Lagos State Governor @TundeFashola stating on his twitter handle that Nigerians deserve a better deal than N10 off.
