FG distributes relief materials to Borno, Yobe communities The Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency, on Tuesday, said it had distributed relief materials to 15,700 persons displaced by the activities of insurgents in Borno and Yobe states. The agency made the disclosure in a statement signed by its Senior Information Officer, Mr Sani Datti, in Abuja. He said the relief materials were shared among the affected communities in the two states. He added that 5,300 persons benefited in Chibok, where more than 200 school girls were abducted by the Boko Haram insurgents, and Gamboru, where some people were killed during a recent raid by the group. Other communities that benefited from the relief materials were Jakana and Mainok communities in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno, where 4,400 were assisted, while 6,000 victims benefited in Goniri community in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe. Datti stated that the Director-General of NEMA, Alhaji Mohammed Sani- Sidi, said the materials were to provide succour to the people, adding that the Federal Government was doing everything possible to address the security challenges in the region. Represented by the North East zonal coordinator of the agency, Sani- Sidi assured the people of Federal Government’s support toward rehabilitating displaced persons when peace returned to the area.
