FG risks sanctions for undermining ECOWAS judgments – SERAP The Punch Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has warned the Federal Government that it may be at risk of regional sanctions for its failure to implement the judgments of the Economic Community of West African States Court of Justice. The organisation made this known in a statement on Wednesday. The ECOWAS Court of Justice had ordered the FG in 2010, to provide free and compulsory basic education to every Nigerian child and in 2012, ordered the FG to punish all oil companies and other perpetrators causing oil pollution in the Niger Delta, of which none had been done by the FG. SERAP warned that the authority of the ECOWAS government could impose economic and political sanctions for the non-implementations of the judgments.
