FGC DAURA’07; OUR SUCCESS STORY. When federal government schools were been considered for establishment, little did we know that one of the proposed schools will be our Alma mater and evidently the one to produce the best set in its fold (though arguably) Class’07, the products of FGC DAURA. Going down memory lane, we can all recall how we are taunted as the “most populous set” ever, in the History of the college in JSS1, having up to six (6) arms; white, pink, red, green, yellow & blue (in order of supremacy….loolss). even though we may not give much thought at then to the advantages attached to the large population of our set, but we still can’t ignore the fact that most times it is always a big deal of work to punish everyone of us in times of trouble, coz we normally rush the punishers and outnumber them, everyone then escapes. From there everyone is OYO! (On your Own). LOLs. Also when it comes to work (labour & house work), we clear a given portion in a twinkle of an eye, and resweep it, all in no time. You can go on counting the advantages of our large population on and on. For those who have vision, they may have foreseen that Class’07 is destined for greatness. After all that we went through in the hands of bully seniors in JSS1, JSS2 & SS1 after all the liberty we enjoy enjoyed in JSS3 & SS2 and the ill treatment we were served in SS3. we still manage to work together, cooperating, intercourse, make the bond, break barrier , establish spirit of brotherhood, ignite the sense of esprit de corps, raise our heads high and jet out with flying colours, defying all odds. Throughout the history of FGC DRA, there was never a set in our league, in a period where demotion is not a surprising news, coz it’s ubiquitous. We had the Class with a record of all-pupils promoted (SS1 WHITE) and a class with a record of more than (¼) one quarter demoted. You see, we are in the league of our own. After graduation, as it’s normal with life, some of us proceed to school, while others did not, but find something doing. Alas, that is the panache of our success story, as mates. Many of us got married, based on last count, the number of our married boys & girls stand at 23 (i.e. 16 girls & 8 boys). Many with kids to be proud of and the most interesting thing is; more are on the way, in fact many more. And the good news is that we celebrate most of them together. Many are presently schooling, numerous to mention, scattered all over the nation, be it polytechnic, monotechnic, Colleges of education, Universities and other institutes of learning, Making difference, setting pace for others to follow, giving them marking schemes. Mehn! Doing great in all fields of learning, scattered all over Art and humanities, sciences, engineering, education, law, social and managements, nursing, environmental, medicine e.t.c. Yours faithfully belong to these set. Some of us are studying overseas, duly representing us. I call these set of students “class 07 in Diaspora”. LOLS. Another Class of our set are those that are serving the nation, in almost every batch of corp members, class 07 always have a representative , the least we ever had is one (1) in a batch, eleven (11) of our mates are done with their service and sixteen (16) are presently serving. I think we deserve some recommendation from DG NYSC coz we are always “motivated” and “good to go”. Also, there is the working class and those in businesses and others are vocational/skilled workers. At times you may not need the certificate to make it in life, but education is necessary. I will like to mention names in this category, our boy Murtala Halliru (Nelly copayo) is working at a Teaching Hospital, Abdulhakim Soja at Sharia’a court of appeal Abuja, Yunusa Oga at NDLEA, Mubarak Mashi is lecturing at UMYUK, Zainab Waja and Comfort Akuchukwu are nurses working with General hospital Katsina. We are not also left out within the military, coz the TRIO of Jeremiah Bala, Victor Amapere and Daniel Nlebedim are all men of Nigerian navy and Nigerian army respectively. While Mubarak i-no-no is in timer four (4) at Nigeria Defence Academy NDA. Also in the Para-military we have VIO-Abdulgee, Custom-Aliyu matsala & Maritime personnel in person of Abduhakim Bamigboye, Then Ibrahim Sukuntuni of the Nigerian police force. Lauretta Charles is into Modelling, big time. Others are totally self employed, carving for themselves a niche in the world of businesses, though they are not done carving, but they are carving it fast. Ashiru Yusuf, Desmond Nwa, Haruna Bros, A-square, Hamza Brain, Bilal Ismail, Fahad Mashasha, Shamsu Labour, the duo of Faruk n Ili boy. Plus many more. And the royal boy among us is the famous prince of Daura and Hakimin Baure, Prince Daha. And possibly, an ‘emir’ to be..LOLS Just because I didn’t mention you, doesn’t mean you didn’t make it. It’s just that you are beyond my radar. The brief history of my transmutation and transformation from a northern Hausa provincial boy to the suave, cosmopolitan, sophisticated and detribalized FGC DAURA product is important in the context of my ethno-religious, socio-cultural and political understanding of present day Nigeria. That is what I achieve most, and the best. Ours is a set with the most pious of men, the gifted, the average, the beautiful (matan jiya n matan yau..lools), the ugly, the dandies, the glutton, the mightiest, the midgets, the athletes, the bullies, the rich, the poor, the paupers, the naturally endowed, the loquacious, the neat, the smart, the intelligentsia, the dirty, the strong, the weak, the, the, the, the…………………the list is endless, we are the “tumbin giwa of FGC DRA”.
