FHBC Day of Prayer, December 31 – 6am-6pm – in prayer room. New Year’s Eve Worship Service with the Lord’s Supper @ 6:30pm Worship (5 minutes) You’re Beautiful - https://youtube/watch?v=QGlTzH9xkXQ Confess (3 minutes) Spend time confessing specific knownsins and ask God to reveal sins you might not be aware of. Advent Preparation (1 minute) Proverbs 31 Pray for Church and Lives (3 minutes) This week is our time of transition between years and between message series. This past Sunday we were reminded that as much as Jesus came the first time in a manger that one day soon He will come again. Pray this week that FHBC will live with a bifocal outlook – one eye on doing the right thing today and the other on the sky anticipating Jesus’ return. Your row-mates. Each week most of our worshippers sit in the same spot. Spend time praying for those who usually sit around you. Pray that they would grow in holiness and in hatred toward sin. Consider contacting them this week to let them know you look forward to seeing them on Sunday. Scripture Memory (3 minutes) – 1 Peter 1:3, 1 Peter 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” Daily Reading and Prayer Focus (15 minutes) Bible Reading- 1 John 3:2-3; 1 Peter 1:3 Today’s Question- As you look back on 2014, what do you have to be thankful for? Where have you seen God at work? What hope are you resting in for this new year? Local: Many people will be on the roads and celebrating and late/early hourstoday. Pray for their safety. Country- USA - The 21st Century sees a different role for a different America. The end of the Cold War, the aftermath of 9/11 and subsequent invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and the emergence (or re-emergence) of other nations spell the end of the USA as the world’s only superpower. The moral authority of the USA was undermined by its response to 9/11, its economic primacy is increasingly questionable and its diplomatic authority, while still immense, is now one of several global leaders. There is much to pray for: a) Domestic politics saw a definitive change as President Obama replaced President Bush. Both claim to be Christian believers; each has been highly divisive in his own way; these illustrate the intractable nature and interminable polarity of US politics more than anything else. Pray that politicians and the populace might overcome some fundamental differences and work together to see justice, fairness and righteousness exalted in the nation. b) The world’s perception of America plummeted as it exerted its military and economic powers unilaterally in questionable ways. Yet the USA still has a vital, even God-ordained, part to play in the theatre of nations – provider of stability and aid, peacekeeper, proponent of democracy, military/economic superpower and still a world leader in almost every area that matters. Pray that this solemn role might be fulfilled from a platform of selflessness and service to humanity.
