FIFA agent advises footballers to play locally Abuja - Terriecia Richardson-Taiwo, a FIFA licenced agent, on Thursday advised the country’s aspiring footballers to ply their trade locally in order to gain experience that would earn them international recognition. Richardson-Taiwo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that by so doing the players would attract the attention of foreign scouts. The FIFA agent spoke against the backdrop of players who were in the habit of travelling the length and breadth of Europe and the Americas in search of employment. I believe not all players are for Europe, not all players are meant to travel abroad, and you know some of them stay in Africa and represent Nigeria I find it important. And everybody has a goal in life, everybody can achieve something, it’s just they have to take time and learn what are the capabilities and where do they see themselves. Because it is not only what I see in them but what they see in themselves too, because it is a two way line to achieve the goal. She said that the desire to play in foreign leagues at all cost had made such players vulnerable to the exploitative tendencies of unscrupulous agents. Richardson-Taiwo, who is also the proprietress of Blue Stone International Academy, appealed to the government to provide the enabling environment for budding talents to thrive.
