*****FIGHT 10***** Location: Porirua Opponent: Trevor Salang Part II Weight: 57kg After the shocker in Thailand, and asking myself the hard questions, I was back in the ring. This was a good few months after Thailand & was a rematch from our earlier encounter. We were asked for the fight & happily accepted. Now as I mentioned in my very first status, I was a freak for watching fights. Half of my training was done in the gym, & the other half was on the computer. I never just watched fights because they were good fights or brawls, but because I liked to study different techniques. This time it was Yodsanklai Fairtex who I was fascinated with. His baseball bat left kick was something I was envious of. So much so for the 3 weeks leading up to the fight I trained in South Paw (right leg forward). By now I was comfortable on the day of fights. During the lead up there were still the odd nerves but once I was weighed in I was pretty much in fight mode. Its like a switch that just turns on. We had a lot of juniors fighting during the day so it was good to just relax & watch our kids scrap it out. I cant remember what we done between the afternoon & night shows but I do remember being so tired when we turned up for the night show I had to have a sleep on the floor. I nearly missed my sisters fight lol. I was about fight 8 or 10 so getting towards the middle of the fight card. I felt fully charged & was ready. The fight was Full Thai Rules as well so all the good stuff. Round 1 started & I hit them with my secret weapon, I was a South Paw lol. It was pretty easy for me to adjust to the style change because I had always switched it up in training. The challenge was staying in this stance the whole fight but I managed it. Anyway back to the fight. Round 1 was pretty much a feeling out round. Trev is such an energetic & bouncy fighter its hard to get tabs on him at times. I also had to be careful not to get caught by a flying elbow or flying heel kick or something. The action picked up in rounds 2 & 3 & we were going at it. Now I dont remember exactly how many knockdowns there were, if I knocked him down once in round 2 & again in round 3 or if they were both in round 3, but I managed to catch him with a few knees to the head & elbows in the corner & there was a lot of blood (not mine). Trev fought on though (as I expected he would) & we fought right to the bell. I was awarded the win on points taking my record to 7 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw. A couple months after this fight I rolled my ankle pretty bad & it sent me on a downward spiral. I had fights lined up but couldnt commit & it was hard times, but more on that in the next one.
