FIGHT TEMPTATION. Genesis 14:22-23 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the Lord, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, and have taken an oath that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the thong of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, ‘I made Abram rich.’ Today’s words of encouragement are taken from Genesis 14:22-23. These verses were referenced yesterday as well. However, today the Lord our God wants us to touch on a different matter altogether. It is vital we learn how to resist temptation even when it tastes so good. The devil knows exactly what we lack, what we desire most, and what the voids in our lives are. When we feel empty inside, it is easier not to obey the Lord’s instructions. I pray we would learn from Abraham. Abraham did not accept anything from the King of Sodom, not even a thread or the thong of a sandal. Sometimes what our Lord asks us to do is difficult. Sometimes walking in obedience is not easy. The fruit simply looks so good and we cannot resist the temptation to try it. Today, the Lord our God is challenging us. Will we choose obedience and righteousness over our deepest wants and desires?
