FIGHTING DIRTY! I Dey Watch Ooo! #FG Revokes Kwankwaso’s Land in Abuja. •New PDP Gives FCT Minister 48hrs To Reopen Adamawa Lodge# FG has revoked the plot of land allocated to Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, in highbrow Maitama District of Abuja. The revocation order which was handed down by Minister of the FCT, Bala Mohammed, accused the Governor of violating the Land Use Act and the Abuja master plan while erecting structures on the plot. The Governor acquired the land measuring 2,500 square metres during the sale of government houses under former President Obasanjo. A source close to the Development Control Department of the FCT Administration explained that the Governor later decided to expand the plot by acquiring the green area space adjoining the land, and applied to the authorities to do so. Kwankwaso got an approval but with the condition that he would not erect permanent structures on the extension, but restrict its use to the approved purpose which is for recreational garden. The source added that the Governor, however, disregarded the condition and the guideline and erected permanent structures on the extension. The source said it was “unbecoming of a state Governor and a former minister who should have known better, to erect illegal structure in flagrant contravention of the Abuja Master Plan and Green Area rules in the FCT.” The official pointed out that following the revocation of title deed of Kwankwaso’s plot, FCT Development Control Department may have to demolish the “illegal structure.” Meanwhile, the FCT Minister has been given 48- hour ultimatum to reopen the sealed Adamawa Governor’s Lodge in Abuja. The factional group in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, said the action of FCT minister was not only draconian, but also an insult on the people of Adamawa State. According to him, the Governor’s lodge serves as the “embassy” of Adamawa State in the FCT. It also serves as a symbol of the state as one of the federating states of the country, upon which the FCT minister lacks any authority to control what it is used for. “The sealing off of the Adamawa Governor’s Lodge by the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, only demonstrates his lack of understanding about the status of a Governor’s Lodge. “What the minister has brazenly done is to indirectly attack the people and Government of Adamawa State in his desperation to impress the PDP tin god, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. “This unwarranted and rash action by Senator Mohammed can be equated with the recent attack against the Nigerian Embassy in Bissau by the Guinea-Bissau authorities, which sparked outrage and for which that country’s government swiftly apologised. “We advise the misguided minister to within 48 hours not only apologise to the people and Government of Adamawa State but also to unseal the Lodge, which serves as our temporary National Secretariat following the sealing of our National Secretariat by the police. “The Government of Adamawa State has not committed any offence by allowing us to use the Lodge as contact office,” New PDP said. It added that what Mohammed has done amounted to usurping powers that do not belong to him. “His unjustifiable action is yet another evidence of impunity by some overzealous people in government intent on blackmailing President Goodluck Jonathan and portraying him as draconian and undemocratic President. “Such people must be stopped forthwith! We, therefore, appeal to Mr. President not only to call Senator Mohammed to order but also sanction him accordingly for portraying Jonathan’s government as lawless, evil and anti-people. “Finally, we urge our members and supporters neither to worry nor be demoralised by the rascality of the Tukur faction, as we are ever ready to ensure that undemocratic elements will not near the leadership of our party anymore. “We are on course and by the grace of God we shall surely come out victorious for the greatness of our party and growth of democracy in Nigeria,” it added.
