Society has mapped out the roles within a family, such that parents must protect their children. But what happens when the human instinct of survival takes over this role? A seemingly controlled avalanche almost kills Tomass family .. while his wife stays with the kids Tomas runs away .. or does he? The film shows the couple debating their sides of what happened… some reviews have called this film a comedy, that is an interesting take because to me most of it was intense dialogue. Ebba, the attractive, responsible wife questions everything when she sees Tomas wasnt there.. she registers this memory and keeps wondering if she has chosen the correct path in her life to be a mother, only to see her husband run away when disaster strikes… Tomas is not able to defend himself but keeps trying .. the classical score of Vivaldi is quite a contrast between the serene and beautiful captured scenery of the Alps.. it depicts the turmoil and the emotion avalanche for the lack of a better word that this family is experiencing. Have to point out the subtle yet funny moments by Mats .. the guy who tries to help Tomas out in an argument but keeps failing..… May be you were trying to go back and dig them out.
