FINAL GAME SUMMARY: A shootout was required but the boys fell 5-4 to the Spitfires. In the first a defensive game was displayed as both teams struggled to maintain offence but Windsor took a 1-0 lead with Hayden McCools tip-in goal. The second saw the exact opposite as offences picked up and the boys levelled the game at 2 a piece. Goals were scored in order by Michael McCarron, Cristiano Digiacinto, and Mitchell Marner. After forty the final 25 (+) minutes were extremely hectic. Windsor got off to a quick start as Soberg and Povorozniouk scored making it 4-2 only 2:20 into the frame. This made it 4-2 for Windsor and hope was diminishing quickly as the boys faced a difficult 5 on 3 right after the Kirwans goal. However, a huge penalty kill sparked a massive comeback as C.J. Yakimowicz seemingly ignited an entire team. His work on the cycle alongside Aaron Berisha wore down the Spitfire defense cumulating in a passing play in which C.J. finished himself before the midway point of the frame. Immense pressure was evident from the Knights resulting in a mad scramble in front involving C.J. once again in which Zach Grzelewski buried a loose rebound tying the game! This sent Budweiser Gardens into mayhem as the score was 4-4 with less than four minutes remaining. OT solved nothing and it took a seven round shootout with teams going 50 percent previously to finally end the game as Soberg scored and Mermis missed making it a final of 5-4 in favour of Windsor. Three Stars: 1) Chandler Yakimowicz (1G, 1A) 2) Michael McCarron (1G) 3) Luke Kirwan (2A) Shots brought to you by Mac OutPost: London - 44 Windsor - 37 After getting their win streak snapped the boys look to rebound in Sarnia on Wednesday, December 31st at 1:05 PM.
