FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is what is wrong with my Ashleigh Necoille Smith.....When she was pregnant with Everleigh, she was told to stop eating salt because of the preclampsia and high blood pressure during her pregnancy so she did and has been eating the same ever since. Regular blood tests showed that she was hydrated but after the tilt table test, they discovered that she needs more salt in her body. She hasnt been having episodes as much when she is in here because she has an IV bag of fluids with sodium in her so thats why they didnt find out what was going on during each ER visit. They are going to keep her again tonight and pump more fluids in her. Apparently, it is very important to get more than normal sodium/salt if you are breastfeeding. Many new mothers dont do this and they get dizzy. Ashleighs case was strange and different because she had a lower heart rate and others havent who have had this problem before making it seem like her heart wasnt working properly. HOWEVER, after thoroughly evaluating and doing every test out there, her heart is perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She needs to get more sodium. They said she was right to continue to come back to the hospital and get evaluated especially since her heart rate was so low. That was specifically what made her case different from any other one theyve had. Many healthy athletes have a heart rate in the 40s. Clearly Ash isnt an athlete but she still has a mix of the hormones from the pregnancy still trying to regulate in her body and that is what is probably keeping her heart rate lower for now when she is at rest. Anyway, she is NOT gonna have to have a pacemaker and her heart is perfect. This kind of dehydration doesnt show up in normal routine blood testing because she IS hydrated. Its the low SODIUM that has caused all of these problems. Apparently you have to be looking for it. Now we know and she is going to be okay. Shes just gonna have to get more IV fluids before they will let her leave. Dr. Brian Bostwick is one amazing cardiologist here at this hospital. I am so thankful for his help for my girl. I am going home tonight to sleep in my own bed with my husband and Joshua Clayton Smith will stay here with her while they pump more bags into her but first, its time for me to get my Friday night Mexican dinner cuz Im starving and could use a beer after all this. Thank yall so much for the prayers and support. We all truly appreciate it more than you could possibly know. Joshs mama has been such a godsend for helping with Everleigh. Okay, Im out now....ready to get outta here!!! Whoot Whoot!!!! My baby is gonna be okay!!!!!
