FINALLY! Jay Baruchel in THIS IS THE END and I are not the only two people who thought FORREST GUMP was warmed over horseshit. The safeness of the soundtrack that also gave cues on how to the audience should react was one of my least favorite aspects of the film from the very beginning, but I disagree that the running sequence was bad: I thought that was where the film made sense in that they were trying to show Forrest as a metaphor for a cultural phenomenon, not as an actual human being. I thought the message was always conformist; the simple minded shall inherit the earth. The best scene was Bubba naming off the different ways of making shrimp, but that was really Zemeckis doing a Cohen Brothers-style scene. Thanks to Alonso Duralde and the group for the reevaluation!
