FINALLY!!!!! PART 2….FILAS RESCUE FROM A NASHVILLE KILL SHELTER IN THE NICK OF TIME & THE UNEXPECTED ENDING! Just to recap since its been a few days...OHS was called by a Nashville kill shelter saying they had an OHS kitty that was going to be euthanized in 15 min..The owner left her there for reasons I still dont understand.…The shelter was kind enough to call OHS to see if we wanted her back…OF COURSE WE DID…BUT…FILA WAS VERY AGGRESSIVE….We didnt think much of that since we hear that alot….I live in Nashville so I was called to get her safe & to help transport to Owensboro. I rushed to the shelter the next morning at opening since we never heard if FILA would be kept alive!!! FILA was VERY AGGRESSIVE…In fact, they had to decide whether to release her because of LIABILITY...There were signs that read dangerous… do not handle,etc….I texted our President & told her that I wouldnt leave without her!! Humans had failed this kitty…WE WOULD NOT. They brought FILA out and she was indeed monstrous…They sat the crate down next to my leg and I began to speak to her softly…. YOURE GOING HOME SWEET GIRL…ITS GOING TO BE OK. Her body rubbed up against the cage in acknowledgement.. It was as if she understood... She relaxed… OUR JOURNEY BEGAN…. I put FILAS cage in my car inches from my face and talked to her nonstop...then put my hand up to the cage…After a few minutes I touched her head…I let her smell my hand…This was the kitty who was just picked up with TONGS!!! SEVERAL people couldnt handle her, yet she calmed with a touch. I told her how beautiful she was. I TOLD HER I WAS HER TEMPORARY MOMMY, something I say on other transports…little did I know. Then I scratched her little head through the cage…SHE LOVED IT… AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I BRAVELY OPENED THE DOOR…The worst that could happen was that she would stay in the cage frightened…NOT THIS KITTY..Her head poked out curiously and then she BARRELED FORWARD RIGHT INTO MY LAP!!!! So now I had killer in my lap…lol..scratching her…talking to her…She was like a DOG looking out the window!!! SHE EVEN FELL ASLEEP… I THINK FILA THOUGHT SHE HAD A HOME & MY HEART WAS BREAKING BECAUSE I WAS GIVING HER UP SOON…I had never in my whole life seen an animal bond SO quickly nor so completely. I was SHOCKED, AMAZED, THRILLED…& HEARTBROKEN! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND INCREDIBLY SAD AT THE SAME TIME…. Some owner had thrown her away and she was finally happy and felt secure & safe once again. We waited for her ride taking pictures of sweet FILA enjoying every second of her new adventure. She had an unexplainable beauty about her. She was so happy. IT WAS TIME FOR HER TO GO….Veronica, the manager at OHS held the crate up to my car and I SAW FILAS FACE…once again scared and unsure…I put her in my lap…She tried to TURN AROUND AND GO BACK INTO THE SAFETY OF THE CRATE I HAD MADE FOR HER…THE ONE SHE THOUGHT WAS HOME…. I GRABBED HER AND HAD TO PUSH HER INTO A NEW CAGE…It made me physically sick...SHE CRIED & CRIED…I died inside...I even sat with her in the new truck comforting her…It didnt help…IT WAS CLEAR TO HER SHE WAS LEAVING AGAIN…I CRIED & CRIED AS SHE DROVE OFF. I COULDNT FORGET ABOUT SWEET FILA THE REST OF THE DAY…I CALLED AND SHE WAS STILL CRYING IN THE TRUCK HEADED TO OWENSBORO…Im sure she was okay but I knew that something very special had happened in that very short time Id never experienced before…& Ive been with many animals… I CAME TO THE REALIZATION THAT I WASNT HER TEMPORARY MOMMY…I WAS HER FOREVER MOMMY! FILA BELONGED WITH ME…SHE WAS ALREADY HOME and I would never give her up…ever. I called CARMEL, the President, to let her know that I was KEEPING sweet FILA… We BOTH cried…Carmel knows how deeply I love my animals and how much I would love FILA… A few days later I would drive up to get her and bring her BACK to NASHVILLE. Her new name is BELLA…In SPANISH..this means BEAUTIFUL…BELLA has a new life now. I didnt want any ties to her old life. She didnt even know her old name…All my kitties know their names, maybe because Im crazy enough to talk to them…lol….BELLA will know her name…and will know LOVE for the rest of her life…I ALREADY LOVE HER SO MUCH!!! I LOVED HER WHEN I MET THIS WILD ANIMAL THAT NO ONE COULD TAME….I THOUGHT I WAS HER TEMPORARY MOMMY….BELLA KNEW BETTER…. SHE ALREADY PICKED ME TO BE HER FOREVER MOMMY…SHE KNEW….. THANK YOU Carmel, the President of OHS, for deciding to save this beautiful little girl that someone threw away…Shes so happy and will now know years of love & happiness because of you…Ill always cherish and take care of her just like our CHLOE …another OHS life saved..We cant save them all, but I can attest to how important ONE LIFE IS…I have this ONE life in my house right now and I thank OHS for my gift of life… MY sweet BELLA!!!! (STAY TUNED FOR PART THREE!!! Picking BELLA up was another huge adventure! WOW!!!
