FINALLY watched THE WORLDS END yesterday!!!! I am a HUGE fan of Simon Pegg/Nick Frost/Edgar Wright and have been waiting for this film for what feels like my ENTIRE life! It is the final film in what they call the Cornetto Trilogy. The films arent specifically related to each other except for the cast. This film has a host of wonderful actors including Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike (all hugely talented and amazing). This film definitely had a different vibe than SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ. A bit more darker but still hilarious in its own unique way. Simon Peggs character Gary King is not a very likeable man but then if youve watched the other films, you will see that none of his characters are really very likeable. They are all quite flawed. And I think thats the genius of Simon and Edgars writing. We end up rooting for characters that in real life we would be hoping to fail. Its essentially about a group of middle aged men going back home and finding that its not the place that changes, but themselves. No matter how much we may want to, we can never go back. There might also be alien robots involved o_0 Its also funny as hell :D
