FINDING ROALD DAHL For the last 4 months, while caring for mom, I have been watching her favorite programs. The Waltons being one of them. First, I was hesitant not being familiar with the premise or plot summary of the story. From snob to avid fan, I make it a point from 2pm-6pm to find what John Boy and the rest of the Waltons are up too. The Waltons remind me of stories that once meant something. Stories about real people that helped circumnavigate the richness of life. Stories crafted with the intent of perpetuating the honest integrity of society. Unlike our sensational programming today, the stories of yesterday imitated the human condition of moral duty and societal responsibility. Contemporary main stream media focuses on entertaining rather than teaching. Where are the Roald Dahls of the World? No, those true storytellers are not archaic relics of the past. They can be found in the most simple of human inventions: a book. Yes, the struggle is real, but it doesnt need to be made harder than it already is. Let stories serve as a guiding compass as we navigate this thing call Life
