FINISH IN STYLE JOB 8:7 ‘Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.’ My precious friends in Christ, I clearly remember one incident during a long distance swimming event at the Olympics games some years ago. A swimmer from a certain country from the very first lap was swimming so fast the commentary team were shocked and wondering what on earth was happening. The person who was favoured to win the event was however going at his normal pace and at the half way mark was actually almost a length of a pool behind this person who was swimming at full speed. However after the half way mark things began to change. The person who was swimming at full speed till the half way mark began to tire out and finally after a few more laps the rest of the swimmers overtook this swimmer and if I remember correctly this swimmer finished something like 6th or 7th. My precious friends many of us are like this swimmer. With our impatient and ambitious nature we try to do things on our own strength to get us forward in life in double quick time. Unfortunately I have time and time again seen this in the lives of people. The faster they go up they harder they come crashing down. I have been working in the commercial sector for almost 10 years now and I have seen it happening over and over again. My precious friends never be impatient in life or overambitious to the point that you become desperate to do anything to get where you want. Those are dangerous qualities to have. Instead Psalm 37:34 instructs us to ‘Wait on the Lord and keep His way, and He shall exalt you.’ Yes precious friends as I have written many times over the Lord has a unique plan for each of our lives and His way of working is always like a potter who shapes, moulds and makes a beautiful vessel out of clay. Little by little the Lord fashions us and builds us into a beautiful vessel which He Himself fills with His anointing, grace, favour and blessing and prospers us. Hence as today’s bible portion says above, though your beginning is small, do not judge your future by the beginning. With the Lord though your beginning is small your future will be great and when you finish your race here on earth you will go to heaven as a victorious and prosperous person. Look at David; from a shepherd boy to a king. Look at Peter; from a fisherman to an apostle of Christ. According to Job 5:11 ‘He sets on high those who are lowly.’ 1 Peter 5:6 ‘Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time.’ Yes come under the plan of God and let Him lead your life, then you will enjoy a great and blessed future in the Lord.
