FIP Headlines – 31 December 2014 HUGE FIP WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH AT EVERYTHING BURNS! The FIP World Heavyweight Championship win by Rich Swann could be featured in a storybook. After coming up shy of winning a world championship so many times before, Rich managed to defeat one of the longest reigning FIP World Heavyweight Champions, Trent Barreta, in front of 2500 fans in China causing the first ever world heavyweight championship change in the country’s history (wwnlive/event-china-11-14-14.html). The momentum continued two nights later in Beijing when Swann successfully defended his newly won championship against AR Fox in the opener of the biggest WWN show in history (wwnlive/event-china-11-16-14.html). Unfortunately for Rich, his first title defense in the U.S. may be his most daunting. Roderick Strong, who both injured Swann as well as cost him victory in the FIP World Heavyweight Championship Three Way at FIP presents Declaration of Independence 2014 (wwnlive/event-fip-07-11-14.html), will be getting the opportunity at the championship that he believes he would have won at FIP presents Accelerate 2014 had his emotions not gotten the better of him (wwnlive/event-fip-05-03-14.html). On January 10th, 2015, at FIP presents Everything Burns, a former FIP Heavyweight Champion with the record for most successful defenses in FIP history faces the new World Heavyweight Champion, who is prepared to go all night long (https://facebook/events/733427650077504/)! Please join us for this great event at the Dickinson Activity Center (5700 Trinity Prep Lane, Winter Park, FL) with a 6pm bell time, part of a double header with EVOLVE 37: https://facebook/events/835689766451556/. FOUR CORNERS FIP TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH The Tag Team Division in FIP is arguably one of the most competitive in Independent Wrestling with a relative who’s who of talent competing within. Since the relaunch of FIP in 2013, win or lose, Dos Ben Dejos have been at the top of the Division synonymous with the description “standout match”. During 2014, The Submission Squad burst onto the scene at FIP, not only making a name for themselves, but also helping instantiate the six man tag as an FIP institution. We kick off 2015 with these two teams getting an opportunity at the FIP World Tag Team Championship against the incumbent and number one contender, respectively, based on the results the night before at FIP presents KICKOFF! 2015. It will be the The Juicy Product of David Starr and JT Dunn, if still champions, defending against Savages of Eddie Graves and Teddy Stigma w/ Trina Michaels, Dos Ben Dejos of Cruz & Rios and The Submission Squad of Pierre Abernathy & Evan Gelistico in a Four Corners FIP World Tag Team Championship Match. SHINE SHOWCASE MATCH WITH TWO OF THE BIGGEST NAMES IN WOMEN’S WRESTLING The news broke on the Full Impact Pro Twitter account (twitter/@FIPofficial) that FIP would host a SHINE Showcase match featuring the SHINE Champion, Mia Yim, and the woman who made her surprise return at SHINE 23, Santana. To say that there are serious implications in this match up would be an understatement. Santana is coming off the momentum of being featured on national television for a year while showing a ton of growth as a competitor since she left SHINE. Mia, who was involved in a bit of controversy at SHINE 23, is heading into SHINE 24 without an opponent for her SHINE Championship. In her recent State of SHINE Address, SHINE VP of Talent Relations Lexie Fyfe made it clear that SHINE Officials are working on a new number one contender (https://youtube/watch?v=qbiAB-nbHp0&feature=youtu.be). A win over Mia in this non-title SHINE Showcase match would arguably put Santana at the top of that list and Santana has made it clear she’s come back to show that she is the best women’s wrestler in the business (https://youtube/watch?v=FqXowEaIVt4&feature=youtu.be ). All eyes will be on Orlando when these two face off in this featured bout!
