FIRE BOWL! A new first tonight. I have overcome many, many - TopicsExpress

FIRE BOWL! A new first tonight. I have overcome many, many trials and tribulations over the course of a 25 year career in a band. In an effort to prepare for the inevitable frozen pad lock on the band van trailer door tonight, I left the house for the gig with a long gas grille lighter in my coat pocket. Got to P.J. McIntyres for gig. Back lock opened up with no problem. Side lock not so good. So I pulled out the trusty grille lighter. Despite it being new it did not ignite. Would not spark. It was useless. I threw it away. I then tried to locate the propane torch that I had at one time in the band van for such emergencies, but had no luck. It must have been placed back into the garage. After a few minutes of fighting unsuccessfully with the frozen side lock I made a few trips into the club with my gear from the rear of the trailer. (side lock was frozen). Key would go in, but would not turn. While inside I noticed a waitress walking with a tall stack of bowls. I asked her for one. I took the bowl outside along with a napkin. I had the drummer spray liquid wrench onto the napkin. After soaking it, we borrowed a lighter, from a nearby smoker in the alley, ignited the drenched napkin on fire inside the bowl and held the bowl of fire under the frozen lock. It did the trick! It loosened up the lock and we gained access, loaded in and did the gig! MacGyver, eat my dust! FIRE BOWL!!!!! F I R E B O W L ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
