FIRE ON MY ALTAR 5 ALTAR AS A PLACE OF THE MAKING OF YOU What happened when Moses was coming down from the place where He spent time alone with God? When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because He had spoken with the Lord So when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw moses, behold, the skin of his face shone and they were afraid to come near him Exodus 34:29-30. Something happens when you spend time with God. The Scriptures says in Genesis 3:8 that God was in the habit of visiting Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. God was always visiting Adam and Eve for fellowship until the day He came and His friends went into hiding. Sins keep God at a distance from our lives. The first thing that happens when the devil wants to get a man is to break his fellowship with God and this starts from the Altar point! You can abandon your altar of fellowship with God following some immoralities and sin. The quilt just keep you away from going there to fellowship. The altar of fellowship takes different shapes when things go wrong with your fellowship with GOd. 1. Dry altar: This is an altar where nothing happens. There is no on-going activities on this altar. No relationship between God and man. No meeting for fellowship. People who have not given their lives to Christ have a dry and unused altar. So when they are fighting off addiction they tend to do it with their will power and human head knowledge. Having tried for a number of times they will give up and continue in their vomit. A believers altar can also turn dry when you dont visit the place daily. The devil can make your altar a dry place so that you dont ever enjoy your relationship with God again. You will get too busy with activities that doesnt add up anything to your spiritual life thereby draining you. You will suddenly become bored by spiritual activities like praying, worshipping and praising God, Bible study becomes a taskmaster labour, you will begin to sleep anytime you pick your Bible, you wont even understand what you are reading, all of these are mere symptoms...something has happened to your altar. Following all these symptoms sins will start coming in, you wont see anything wrong in what God detests or you will discover the power to resist sin is no longer there, After then the altar will take different shape. Prayer: Lord Jesus I pray for forgiveness and the salvation of my soul! Come and fill my heart! Dwell therein and write my name in the book of life. Father renew my altar fire! Set me ablaze for you in the name of Jesus. Shalom
