As the thermal trough continues to migrate eastward monday night and tuesday an incoming low pressure will promote increasing thunderstorm activity from southwest to northeast across all districts. Abundant lightning is possible starting monday evening in the cascades and spreading into the idaho panhandle by tuesday evening. Fire weather zone 685 east washington north cascades (zone 685) and fire weather zone 687 east washington okanogan highlands (zone 687). * Instability: a surface thermal trough passing over the east slopes of the cascades monday will result in a very unstable low level atmosphere. * Humidity: minimum relative humidity will range from 8 to 10 percent in the columbia basin and okanogan highlands to 10 to 20 percent in the east slopes cascade districts. * Thunderstorms: initially dry isolated lal 2 thunderstorms will begin over the cascades monday evening and spread into the columbia basin and okanogan highlands overnight monday night. Thunderstorms will become increasingly wet and increase to scattered coverage during the day tuesday with lal of 3 to 4. Scattered wet thunderstorms will continue through wednesday. * Winds: gusty outflow winds are possible near thunderstorms. In addition winds will become westerly and locally breezy through the kittitas and wenatchee valleys tuesday afternoon and evening as cooler air begins to bleed into the region. * Impacts: highly unstable and dry conditions will promote plume dominated behavior on existing fires. Abundant lightning with thunderstorms and dry fuels will promote new fire starts. A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
