FIRED UP - WEEK 6, DAY 3 Week 6: We Need Sincerity in Jesus Christ Day 3: The Answer to Hypocrisy “Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain ... So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent” (Rev. 3:2-3). What is the solution to the problem of hypocrisy? Though this question might appear complex and unanswerable to some, Jesus provides five simple commands: “wake up,” “strengthen,” “remember,” “keep,” and “repent.” The distinct voice of the all-knowing Lord is the only means to spiritual awakening. He, thus, refers hypocritical Christians to the fundamentals of faith, calling them to strengthen themselves through the power of the Holy Spirit’s powerful message. Yet, it is not enough merely to remember that which was received and heard; it has to be kept (i.e. obeyed). Ultimately, however, it all goes back to an change of mind (repentance). We do not solve the problem of hypocrisy from the outside-in but from the inside-out. If any of us are struggling with insincere service, we must turn to the Lord and heed His commands: wake up, strengthen, remember, keep, and repent!
